Hometown: Westerville, Ohio (suburb of Columbus - Go Bucks!)
How long have you lived in Louisville? 17 years
Tell us about your family: I am so, so lucky. My husband Mac is a fun, loving, supportive partner and an incredible dad. When I say crazy things like, "I want to run another marathon," he just says "sounds great, when does training start?" We have two energetic, bright, kind boys - Simpson (6) and Owen (3).
Current/Previous career: I currently work as a Risk Management Lead at Humana. I am a lawyer by training and spent 13 years as a trial attorney with the Louisville Public Defender's Office.
What did you want to be “when you grow up”? When I was graduating high school and didn't have an answer for this question, I told everyone I wanted to be an astronaut. Fun fact: I am terrified of heights.
What is the furthest you have been away from home? France. I was 11 and did an exchange program where I stayed with a family for 3 weeks in France.
What is your favorite thing to do? Travel with my family. Especially to places we haven't been before. I love to explore.
What is something about you that someone may not know? I was in a very serious accident in 2016, and spent a long time rehabilitating.
What is your favorite local restaurant to eat at? What is your go to order? Seviche. The scallops. Always.
What is the best thing about living in Louisville? It is a big-small city. It has a lot of the perks of a larger city, but without all the negatives. And I have found that the people you meet are so welcoming and friendly.
What is your favorite color? Navy blue
What is your favorite song or artist? Coldplay
What TV shows are you currently watching? Yellowstone, Billions (the last season), Hell's Kitchen
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us or what is your pet peeve? I studied Russian in college.
If someone had to describe you in one word, what would it be and why? Giving - I tell my kids every one morning to be kind, to be a good friend and to be a helper, because that's genuinely what I aim to do in my day. I am giving of my time and energy to my friends and family, as well as to causes and organizations that I care about.
How did you find FIT4MOM Louisville? My friend Kelly (and Meredith, too) introduced me to Winter BodyWell in Owl Creek almost 2 years ago. I knew of it, but hadn't done any classes or programs prior to that session.
How has FIT4MOM Louisville changed your life? It's hard to quantify - I needed that first reset. I have needed a couple since then. And the coaching and programming has always been fantastic. I am a recovering runner that avoided strength training and now those are the programs I gravitate toward.
What was the first class that you attended? What was the last class that you attended? BodyWell in January 2023. BodyWell Strength with Jenn last week!
What is your favorite workout move or class layout? What workout move or class layout makes you feel strong? I love Supersets. Love love love them. It makes the class go by in a flash. Anytime we are doing core-focused exercises, I feel strong - mostly because I can feel the change in my body and the strength I am gaining from attending classes. Oh, and from doing all the dang sprinter sit-ups ordered by Jenn.
December questions:
- Best holiday tradition your family does? Slow Christmas mornings with my guys - pajamas, quiche, cinnamon rolls, hot coffee and Aaron Neville Christmas music.
- Tastiest holiday treat? Grandma Eloise's apple pie. I only make it at Thanksgiving (and occasionally by request at Christmas). It's the best.
- Favorite holiday movie? The Family Stone
- Are you hoping for a winter wonderland (lots of snow) or warmer temps? Snow. I love seeing the joy on my kids' faces when it snows.
