Hometown: Louisville, KY
How long have you lived in Louisville? Literally my whole life, outside of when I went to college at the University of Kentucky.
Tell us about your family: I’ve been married to my husband, Zach, for almost 13 years and we have two kiddos - Calvin (10) and Ruby (7). We also have a Jack Russell named Cosmo.
Current/Previous career: Previously I was a middle and high school science teacher for 15 years. For the last two years, I’ve been a manager with Fit4Mom Louisville and handle their communications, emails, social media, graphics, scheduling, event planning, partnerships, the list goes on…lol. I also instruct BOOST, Body Well, and Body Ignite!
What did you want to be “when you grow up”? A marine biologist or a veterinarian.
What is the furthest you have been away from home? I’ve been to Italy and Hawaii, which is probably about equi-distant give or take a few miles.
What is your favorite thing to do? I love to cook, read murder mysteries, watch reality TV, and spend time with my family (my parents live nearby and are often over at my house, and I have three sisters).
What is something about you that someone may not know? My last name is pronounced “cool,” but don’t worry, I’m not actually “cool.”
What is your favorite local restaurant to eat at? What is your go to order? The Fishery for sure! I love their fried fish - it’s the best in town. I also love the chop chop salad at Coals.
What is the best thing about living in Louisville? I love knowing someone everywhere I go and finding connections within our community. It’s a small town feel, with some bigger city opportunities.
What is your favorite color? Go BIG BLUE!
What is your favorite song or artist? ‘Yonce is almost always on my playlists.
What TV shows are you currently watching? My husband and I are rewatching ER in its entirety, but are also huge fans of Seinfeld. I watch any Housewives too!
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us: I was a nationally ranked dairy cattle judge in college (yes, it is a Division I “sport” and I was on scholarship for it). It’s not at all like Napoleon Dynamite, but I’m a ton of fun to take to the state fair.
If someone had to describe you in one word, what would it be and why? Dependable. I always do what I say I will and set my mind to it.
How did you find FIT4MOM Louisville? A neighbor on my street turned me on to it about 10 years ago. I “fell off” to have my second kiddo, but she brought me back around about 6 years ago. I haven’t looked back since.
How long have you worked for FIT4MOM Louisville? 2 years!
How has FIT4MOM Louisville changed your life? In 2019 I was diagnosed with a very serious and life-threatening condition. Fit4Mom Louisville had my back in ways I couldn’t even imagine. They even made the sweetest video encouraging me. It showed me that this is so much more than a workout group - it’s a true community.
What was the first class that you attended and/or taught? What was the last class that you attended and/or taught? First class after I returned was an Amanda Atherton BOOST class. She kept trying to give me pointers on how to stay balanced and boy did I need them. The last class I taught was Body Ignite. I love focusing on building strength!
What classes do you currently attend and/or teach? I teach Cardio Express on Monday nights at 7pm, Body Ignite at 9am on Sundays and 8:30am on Thursdays, and Body Well on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
What is your favorite workout move or class layout? What workout move or class layout makes you feel strong? Bicep curls all day long for me! I love strong arms!
October questions:
Pumpkins - carve or paint? Visit the patch or pick up at the grocery store? Definitely paint! We typically visit the patch once, but I also pick up a few at the grocery store.
Best Halloween costume you ever had? I had to be a Teletubby once because my youngest sister loved them and again, there were 4 of us girls so it made for a good family costume.
Scary movies or Halloween cartoons? Cartoons all the way, although my husband owns every DVD of Nightmare on Elm Street.
What’s your favorite Halloween candy? Reese’s pumpkins are far superior to the typically Reese’s cup.
