Elizabeth Steinert

July's Team Member of the Month is just like her favorite firework - a big burst of color! She is a whiz at the great outdoors (ask her anything) and a natural teacher. A quick Google search led her to join this Village 7 magical years ago, and we're so thankful she did. She brings the booty work to you every week, meet Elizabeth...

Hometown: Louisville, KY

How long have you lived in Louisville? I went away for college, but I've lived here all my life.

Tell us about your family: I have 2 kiddos. Adeline is 8 and loves to dance. Lochlan is 5 and full of energy. My husband is Nathan. We've been married for 12 years.

Current/Previous career: I'm a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing in Oldham County.

What did you want to be “when you grow up”? I've always wanted to be a teacher of the deaf! My grandparents are deaf and I come from a long line of teachers of the deaf. It's in the blood. Haha

What is the furthest you have been away from home? Italy! I've had the opportunity to travel there a few times and love it.

What is your favorite thing to do? Get outside and go on an adventure! I love hiking and camping with the fam. It feeds my soul.

What is something about you that someone may not know? Growing up in a Deaf family, I'm bilingual! American Sign Language is my second language.

What is your favorite local restaurant to eat at? What is your go to order? Grassa Gramma is a favorite date night spot. I love the pesto primavera and pasta carbonara with a glass of chianti.

What is the best thing about living in Louisville? There really is a lot to do! So many fun parks to explore, great indoor fun, and the arts culture. Each season has it's own unique activities.

What is your favorite color? Purple!

What is your favorite song or artist? I can't put my finger on one favorite band. I really love indie rock, alternative bands, pop punk, and indie folk.

What TV shows are you currently watching? Outlander and Queen Charlotte....so good!

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us: My husband and I have a goal of backpacking the entire Appalachian Trail. We've chipped away at a few sections so far.

If someone had to describe you in one word, what would it be and why? Kind. I want everyone to feel a warm welcome when they're in my space...and I'm a hugger, so watch out.

How did you find FIT4MOM Louisville? A Google search! When I first had Adeline, I wanted to find a group of women to connect with AND find a way to workout with my baby. Fit4Mom popped up and I immediately jumped in. So glad I did.

How long have you worked for FIT4MOM Louisville? 7 years.

How has FIT4MOM Louisville changed your life? I am so grateful for Fit4Mom. When my babes were little, Stroller Strides was life. It gave me sanity. I have met some amazing women that have become close friends and our babies have gotten to grow up together into a fun little gang of crazies. I am so grateful for these friendships.

What was the first class that you attended and/or taught? Stroller Strides back in the day when we were at Babies R Us.

What was the last class that you attended and/or taught? Boost!

What classes do you currently attend and/or teach? Body Well and Boost!

What is your favorite workout move or class layout? Traveling! What workout move or class layout makes you feel strong? Plank based moves....they can be so hard! They take just as much mental strength as physical strength to get through.

July questions:

  • Describe your favorite firework: a big burst of color!

  • What is the tastiest thing to cook on a grill or over a fire? I do love a good hamburger during the summer.

  • Best Fourth of July memory? Firework shows in my parents' back field growing up. We still do it with the kiddos and it's always so fun.

  • You’re at the pool - cannonball to get in or slow on the stairs? I am such a baby! Haha I hate being cold. I definitely do the toe dip and slowly inch my way in.

F4M LOUISVILLE MEMBER COMMENTARY - FROM WHITNEY TAYLOR

Prior to Body Well, I tried and quit more exercise programs than expected. For instance, if the instructor lacks enthusiasm or I fail to see results then I would just give up. The Body Well program design is impeccable but it takes a passionate coach to carry it out. Elizabeth has dedicated her time outside of her family and career to empower others to grow past the perceived unimaginable. She has a heart for fitness and provides a personalized fitness plan to meet every participant where they are while providing optimal opportunities to lift up everyone to be their best self. Although, Elizabeth says - the hardest part is to show up, she is the main reason I continue every season. She has enabled me to have better nutritional habits while improving my physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

F4M LOUISVILLE TEAM MEMBER COMMENTARY - FROM SUSAN ECKHARDT

E is a little ray of sunshine on a gray day. Her warmth & kindness shines through with just a smile (and maybe a booty tap 😉). She is always her authentic, crunchy, sweet self, but don’t let that fool ya…her classes are tough! You’ll get through it though because she will be your #1 cheerleader. She’s more supportive than Spanx, and I’m so lucky to call her a friend.
