With March, comes a season known for its transformative changes. This month's Member of the Month underwent her own transformative change and claims "joining Fit4Mom has been the best things I've done for myself" (kind of like finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, right Molly?). We feel lucky that Molly joined our Village and may have to get her a float to decorate as we love unicorns too!
Hometown: Louisville, KY
How long have you lived in Louisville? Born & raised here! I moved to Cincinnati for a year in 2011-2012, but I just couldn’t stay away.
Tell us about your family: I have an older brother who lives in Louisville, and an older sister who lives in Washington, DC. My husband, Chris, and I have a daughter, Penny, who is 7 months old. We also have two miniature schnauzers named Kevin and Steve.
Current/Previous career: I work in advertising at Doe-Anderson. I am a Media Supervisor, so I work with clients to plan and buy media space (TV, radio, digital, etc.) to reach their target audience at the right time.
What did you want to be “when you grow up”? I wanted to be a brain surgeon. I even had my own theme song I wrote with a friend in 7th grade. If you’re lucky, I’ll sing it for you.
What is the furthest you have been away from home? I haven’t traveled as much as I would like but spent several Thanksgiving breaks in high school in Palm Springs, CA playing field hockey at the National Hockey Festival. My mom was THRILLED about that :-)
What is your favorite thing to do? Binge watch terrible TV shows
What is something about you that someone may not know? When I was 28, I found out I have celiac disease, so I am committed to a lifelong gluten free diet. I’m all about trying to find the next best gluten free pizza – so far, Coal’s has my vote.
What is your favorite local restaurant to eat at? What is your go to order? Chik’n & Mi. Go to order – small nuggets with sweet soy, street corn and sangria. They have the best happy hour and most amazing patio.
What is the best thing about living in Louisville? I love everything about Louisville and how there is always something to do. We love going to Waterfront Wednesday during the summer – we took Penny to her first one when she was a month old. Gotta start ‘em young!
What is your favorite color? Blue
What is your favorite song or artist? Wilco
What TV shows are you currently watching? I just restarted YOU in preparation for the new season.
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us: I love movies about aliens. Independence Day is top 5 favorite movie.
If someone had to describe you in one word, what would it be and why? Awesome
How did you find FIT4MOM Louisville? I have a wonderful friend named Meredith Cull who kept telling me about FIT4MOM before I had Penny and saying I should try it out. I didn’t do it. But once Penny came around, the thought of going back to a regular gym sounded terrible and I told Mere I wanted to try FIT4MOM, and the rest is history. I should have listened to her sooner.
How has FIT4MOM Louisville changed your life? Joining FIT4MOM has been the best thing I’ve done for myself. I have already done two rounds of Body Well, and those have helped change the way I look at food and making overall better choices. I have gained a sense of confidence I haven’t had in a long time and feel better all around. I’ve also met some of the most amazing women (WUDDUP NIGHTTIME STRIDES) and look forward to seeing them every class.
What was the first class that you attended? Strides at Tom Sawyer Park with Rebecca exactly 6 weeks postpartum.
What was the last class that you attended? Run Club!
What classes do you currently attend? I am currently doing winter Run Club and I am going to do spring Run Club on Thursdays! I also go to Strides on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. I try to do a virtual or on-demand here or there, but nothing beats an in-person class to me!
What is your favorite workout move? I’m trying to get my Michelle Obama arms, so anything upper body (right now).
What workout move makes you feel strong? I hate them, but when I finish a round of burpees, I feel oh so strong.
March questions:
· If you had to decorate a Mardi Gras float, what would be your theme? Unicorns and glitter!
· Favorite good luck charm? I don’t think I have one!
· King cake or green beer? King cake – there’s nothing more thrilling than wondering if you are going to choke on a plastic baby with every bite! Plus, it’s delicious.
· March 20th is spring - what is your favorite season and why? Spring is my favorite season. I love when everything is new and bright again. Everything is so pretty, the weather is usually perfect, and how can you not love getting more time in the day?!
