Sometimes the best relationships start with a referral from a friend. This is the case with this month’s Mom of the Month, Pia Orescovich. Pia’s relationship with Fit4Mom Lou began when a friend encouraged her to come to class with her. She has completed several rounds of Body Well, but made her ONE membership “official” in September 2020. In addition, Pia recently hit a huge milestone and attended her two hundred and fiftieth class! Thank you for being part of our Village Pia, and for saying “yes” when a friend asked you to try a class!
Hometown: I was born and raised in Santiago Chile. The company I worked for in Chile moved me to Milwaukee when I was 25 years old. I was suppose to be in Milwaukee for 2 years and 22 years later I'm still in the USA.
Tell us about your family: Steve and I met in Wisconsin. We have been together for 17 years and married for 14 years. Thanks to the miracle of adoption we have 2 wonderful kids, Aaron is 10 and Emma is 5. We also have 2 wonderful dogs, Dobby (11.5 years old) and Gryffindor is 1 (we are big Harry Potter fans).
Current/Previous Career: Currently I'm a Sr. Finance Manager at GE Appliances and I support the Sourcing organization I'm also the President of the board for the Kentucky Chapter of Gif of Adoption. We are a non profit company that provides grants for people that need that final extra money to finalize the adoption process of their children.
What was your childhood ambition? I wanted to be a teacher and help other kids learn.
What does motherhood mean to you? To me motherhood is a little different than others because we adopted our kids at birth. To me motherhood means that a selfless, brave and loving birth mother decided to make an adoption plan for their children and choose us to be the lucky ones to raise them and love them for the rest of their lives.
What is the furthest you have been away from home? I was born and raised in Santiago Chile, so I been pretty far away from home for 22 years already.
What is your favorite thing to do as a family? We love making memories with the kids, showing them new places and doing new things together. Also one of my favorites is to spend time with family in Chile, showing them what I used to do when I was a child.
What is something about you that someone may not know? In Chile we had a dictator until I was 16. My first concert once the dictator was gone (concerts and big manifestations were not allowed in the country) was Rod Stewart.
What is your favorite healthy and unhealthy food? Salads, I eat almost every day for lunch. My unhealthy pleasure is fried chicken with beer.
What is your favorite color? Red
What is your favorite song or artist? Any kidz bop music my kids are listening to. Also, I love listening to Spanish music with a good beat when I run.
What TV shows are you currently watching? House of the Dragon
Proudest moment: The day Gift of Adoption Chapter was launched KY
How did you find FIT4MOM? My friend Whitney invited me to Bring a Friend week 3 years ago. It was a 100 class at Defy; a really fun class.
How has FIT4MOM changed your life? When I started with Fit4mom, I was struggling with limited range of motion due to a broken humerus bone in my right arm. FIT4MOM helped me understand that I might have some limitations in the exercise I can do, but I can still enjoy working out and having a good time with my friends.
Favorite exercise: Love traveling Boost at the Parklands
Favorite virtual class: Strength with Suze
