Meet Carlee, our Mom of the Month! Carlee is wifey to Ian and mama to sweet Angel Hattie, Willa (4) and Winnie (1.5). Carlee does all.the.things. Fit4Mom! She began as a Strides member and later became Body Back alumni after falling in love with the program. Carlee then became a Strides/360 Instructor and now coaches Run Club and is also one of F4M Lou's Body Back Coaches. Carlee gives 110% in everything she does and it shows. Her classes are challenging yet fun and her puns keep everyone laughing. In addition to being an amazing instructor, Carlee is a Preschool Teacher at The Temple.
Carlee, we are lucky to know you and to have you as a part of Our Village and Team. We love you!!!
Hometown: Louisville, KY (Since I was adopted at 11 months old)
Tell us about your family: I've been married to my husband, Ian for almost 10 years. We have been together for about 13 years and met playing soccer at Mockingbird. Together we have 3 beautiful daughters. Our first daughter, Hattie had a chromosomal abnormality called Trisomy 13, and lived for 40 mins after she was born. She is our guiding light and taught us about unconditional love, selflessness, grief and strength in her short time in this world. Our 2nd daughter, Willa Jean is 4 going on 24. She certainly keeps us on our toes and has the stubbornness of my husband and I combined. She constantly teaches me to live life to the fullest and isn’t afraid to show her emotions. She feels with ALL of her soul! Our 3 rd daughter, Winnie Michael will be 2 in April. She is named after THE Winnie the Pooh, which she bares many similarities including her mainly carefree nature, her persistent drive of always searching for her next snack to “eat, eat”, and that wonderfully, round chubby belly!
Current/ Previous Career: I’ve been a preschool teacher at the Temple Trager ECEC for almost 10 years now! I majored in Social Work- but fell in love with the messy, never predictable, heart melting lives of the 6 years and under mind! Before I had my girls I was our After School Care Coordinator. I spent several years as a lover of Infants and now I’m currently in my 1st year teaching a Young Two’s class!
What was your childhood ambition? All I can remember wanting to be when I was younger was an accountant. My dad was a CPA and I wanted to be just like him!
What does motherhood mean to you? I fully believe in the saying that the “days are long, but the years are short”.
Motherhood means the following to me:
- It means questioning if you are doing enough, being enough, loving enough on a daily basis.
- It is rewarming coffee 3 and 4 times before noon
- It is listening to Baby Shark on repeat morning, noon, and night.
- It is answering those big questions like, “Why isn’t Jesus a woman? And Why can’t I have my Christmas candy for breakfast?”
- It is needing a break but only talking about your kids when you are paying for a babysitter.
- It is kissing boo boos, calming fears and being their superhero and feeling those little hands in yours.
- Motherhood is one of the hardest and most rewarding jobs.
What is the furthest you have been away from home? I’m more of a homebody… so Hawaii?!
How did you find FIT4MOM? Probably the same way everyone else found it… Amanda Atherton! Haha I went to one of Jess’s Stroller Strides classes when they were still at Shelby Campus.
How has FIT4MOM changed your life? You know that ‘thing’ that you think is way too cool for you and you don’t think you’ll ever fit in? That is what Fit4mom was for me. It felt like some elusive club that I wouldn’t ever become a part of because I wasn’t one of those moms who had it all together! But man, was I wrong. There is something truly inspiring about a group of women who all have one common goal in mind- to keep the tiny humans alive and happy. While we all may be very different, I love that I have found a Village that accepts everyone and only wants the best for each and every woman. I have been lucky enough to be on both sides of F4M Lou. As a client and now as a team member I have seen and continue to appreciate ALL that Jess and Cass have brought to Louisville!
Favorite exercise: Walking Lunges
Proudest moment: It has only happened once and probably won’t happen ever again. Making something that the entire family loved to eat. For the life of me I can’t remember what it was and it was definitely shut down the following time I tried to offer it. But 1 win, is 1 win… right?!
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us: I can blow air out of my eyes and I secretly wish my life was a musical.
