Meet Brittany, one of our Moms of the Month!
Brittany is wifey to Cole and mama to Lawson, Sam, Alex and Carmen. When she's not busy being an amazing Mom she is a full time Lawyer. Brittany makes balancing the demands of work, raising kids and including time for herself look easy breezy.
Brittany has completed several rounds of Body Well and Run Club and is also a regular at Boost. She is encouraging, friendly and kind. Something you may also notice is that her hair will inevitably always look perfect. Even after an insanely sweaty workout. And we love her for it!
Brittany, we are so lucky you are part of the Village. We love you, mama! xoxo
Hometown: Lola, KY (population 1,014)
Tell us about your family. I have been married to Cole for 12 years and we have four wild children-- Lawson (9), Sam (6), Alex (6), and Carmen (4).
Current/previous career. I oversee the defense of medical malpractice litigation for a national insurance company.
What was your childhood ambition? To be a Supreme Court justice!
What does motherhood mean to you? Motherhood is indescribable, isn't it? It is loving tiny people so hard, with every beat of your heart, all the while navigating unanticipated challenges while making impossible decisions and teaching giant life lessons with no playbook. It is excruciatingly difficult and supremely rewarding.
What is the furthest you have been away from home? I spent a semester of college in Cameroon, Africa.
How did you find FIT4MOM? I saw the sign. Hah! In early 2016, before Jess and Cass merged, I saw a sign about a Stroller Strides at Anchorage School.
How has FIT4MOM changed your life? As a former solitary exerciser, I had no clue that "group fitness" would lead me to lifelong friendships with some of the most supportive, encouraging women I've ever met. It's so much more than a workout.
Favorite exercise. Give me all the cardio (except high knees).
Proudest moment. Not counting the births of my children, finishing last year's Urban Bourbon in less than two hours.
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us. I've been a vegetarian for 28 years.
From the kids...
How old is mommy? Answers ranged from 18 (from my favorite kid) to 38 (from my most accurate kid).
What is something mom always says to you? Lawson, Sam and Alex: "I love you."; Carmen: "Go to your room." ... Dying.
What is mom really good at? Lawson: "Tucking us in." Alex: "Running." Sam: "Working."
What is mom's favorite thing to do? (I love this one). Carmen: "Exercise!"; Sam and Alex: "Play with us."; Lawson: "Going to bed."... They're not wrong.
What makes you proud of your mom? Sam: "When you do work because it's hard work to do work."
