Mom of the Month - Ashley Hogue

Meet Ashley, our Mom of the Month! Ashley is wifey to Ryan and mama to Sarah. She is a former teacher and now stays at home full time with her sweet girl. Ashley has participated in almost all of our Fit4Mom programs- Fit4baby, Strides, Boost and Body Back. It’s only a matter of time before she joins Run Club! When she goes, she goes ALL in and never gives up. She is selfless, kind and motivating... always putting others first. Ashley has a way of making new mamas feel welcome while still killing it during class!

Ashley, thank you for being a part of our village. We are so lucky to have you!

Hometown: I was born in Rochester, New York, but when I was 8 we moved to Bedford, Texas. It’s between Dallas and Fort Worth.

Tell us about your family: My husband, Ryan, our daughter, Sarah, and our dog, who we rescued, Benson. We moved to Louisville in 2013.

Current/Previous career: I taught Kindergarten and first grade for 6 years. I am a certified Reading Specialist K-12, and was a school Media Specialist for 2 years before having Sarah.

What was your childhood ambition? I thought I wanted to become a nurse, and then realized I couldn’t handle needles or blood. After figuring that out, my new ambition was teaching.

What does motherhood mean to you? Motherhood is the never-ending emotional rollercoaster that drains all of your energy and brings out the best and worst of you. Sometimes that happens within the first hour of the day! It is also the most rewarding experience that you want to keep coming back to over and over again. Motherhood is humbling. It is the truest giving of oneself you can do.

What is the furthest you have been away from home? Athens, Greece

How did you find FIT4MOM? I heard about Fit4Mom through Ashleigh Winningham Thompson. She posted about Fit4Baby shortly after I found out I was pregnant.

How has FIT4MOM changed your life? Fit4Mom has helped me remember who I am. It is so easy to lose yourself after giving birth, and I was struggling with figuring out how to adjust to motherhood and step out of the “working” world. Between Fit4Baby, Boost, Body Back, and Stroller Strides I have been able to find a new community of women who support each other without judgement.

Favorite exercise: anything core or mini bands

Proudest moment: I have two that are a tie. One of my first classes with Amanda, she had us plank with our feet on the wall. I couldn’t do it. Several months and many boost classes later, I went to a class where she had us do that again. I was able to do it the entire time! My second was completing my first round of Body Back with Nicole where I shed 17 pounds and 14.5 inches all while gaining a tribe of women who I love to see at 5:30am!

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us: I am extremely introverted, but try my hardest to be extroverted.
